Do Penn State dorms have air conditioning?
Yes — all 19 halls available for Fall 2026 have central AC. The $450M East Halls renovation is complete and the newly renovated Pollock halls (Ritner and Wolf) come online Fall 2026 with AC as well.
What size bed does Penn State use?
All renovated Penn State halls use XL Twin beds (80"×36"). Beds have adjustable frames and can be lofted — but full lofting is only permitted in Earle Hall and Martin Hall where ceiling height allows it.
Can I bring a mini-fridge to Penn State?
No. Penn State prohibits personal fridges and microwaves in all residence halls. Students must rent through the campus MicroFridge program. Bringing your own is a fineable violation.
Can I bring a toaster or Instant Pot to Penn State?
No. Penn State's prohibited list is extensive: toasters, toaster ovens, air fryers, Instant Pots, hot plates, and space heaters are all banned. Only the campus-provided or rented appliances are allowed.
When does Penn State send housing assignments?
Penn State typically releases housing assignments in July for incoming freshmen. East Halls and Pollock Halls assignments are separate — check your assignment letter for which area applies.
