Living in Weston: what to know before you pack

The room

Weston rooms are listed as doubles and singles (triple floor plans are also published), each furnished with a desk, desk chair, a three-drawer chest whose top drawer can be padlocked, a closet roughly 3' x 3', a wall-mounted bookcase, blinds, and a bed. University Housing's published default configuration puts both beds at mid-loft height, 38" from the top of the mattress to the floor; Housing does not publish a range of alternate loft heights or an adjustment increment, so confirm with Residence Life before planning around a specific under-bed height. Mattresses are extra-long twin, and Housing's own checklist recommends sheets measuring 36" x 80". Storage is limited to the closet and under-bed clearance, so a lot of families supplement with over-the-door organizers and slim bins. Wireless internet, a smoke detector, and a wastebasket are already in place; nothing else is pre-installed, so lamps, rugs, and a mini fridge/microwave (if desired) all travel in on move-in day.

Day to day

Bathrooms in Weston are community-style, shared by the floor rather than private or suite-style. Laundry and a community kitchen are available in-hall, and residents have both the Student Dining and Residential Programs Building (SDRP) and the Ikenberry Dining Center listed among nearby amenities, plus retail spots like 57 North and the Caffeinator. Weston sits in Ikenberry Commons North, and its own hall page notes that the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) and Memorial Stadium are a short walk away. The hall's two Living-Learning Communities (Exploration and LEADS) add built-in floor programming for residents who opt in.

Move-in day

Weston follows the standard University Housing move-in calendar: general New Resident Move-In Days fall on August 19-20, 2026, with students selecting a specific time slot in advance through the housing portal. Because Weston hosts two Living-Learning Communities, LLC participants move in a day earlier, on August 18, ahead of the general population. Families should expect a scheduled arrival window rather than a walk-up move-in, with elevators running on a queue during peak hours.

For quad hangs, tailgates, and games on damp grass
