Living in Snyder: what to know before you pack
The room
Snyder's rooms are listed as doubles and singles (triple floor plans are also published), furnished with the standard Housing package: a desk and chair, a three-drawer chest whose top drawer can be padlocked, a closet, a bookcase, blinds, and a bed. Housing's published default configuration puts both beds at mid-loft height — 38" from the top of the mattress to the floor, with 28" of clearance from the bottom of the bed frame to the floor. That 28" figure is the number to measure against when buying under-bed bins. Housing does not publish alternate loft heights or an adjustment increment. Mattresses are extra-long twin, and the official move-in checklist recommends 36" x 80" sheets. Everything beyond the built-in furniture, internet, and smoke detector — bedding, a fridge, a microwave — is bring-your-own.
Day to day
Bathrooms are community-style and shared by the floor. Snyder is part of Ikenberry Commons South and is designated a substance-free community, meaning residents support each other in abstaining from tobacco products, alcohol and other drugs beyond the general campus policy. In-hall amenities include laundry, a community kitchen, a computer lab, a fitness room, music practice rooms, and a learning commons. The hall's own page describes the Student Dining and Residential Programs Building (SDRP) as just a short walk away, with the ARC and Memorial Stadium across the street.
Move-in day
Snyder residents move in during the standard New Resident Move-In window of August 19-20, 2026, scheduled by time slot through the housing portal. Snyder's listed community is the Substance-free Community rather than a Living-Learning Community, so most Snyder residents arrive in the general August 19-20 window rather than on the August 18 LLC date. As with other Ikenberry Commons halls, expect a scheduled check-in and elevator queues at peak times.
