Living in Wardall: what to know before you pack

The room

Wardall rooms come as singles, doubles, or triples, and one single option adds a private bath. Every listed room type includes an individual-use bathroom, which sets Wardall apart from most of Ikenberry Commons, where bathrooms are community-style. Beds use the ISR-specific zTrak system, which Housing describes as letting you loft your bed easily in three positions and in less time. The mattress is a twin extra-long measuring 35" wide by 78" deep by 6" thick — note that it is shorter than the 80" mattresses assumed by standard extra-long twin sheets, so check the fit. Furniture is steel construction with solid-wood drawer fronts and tops: a desk, chair, two-drawer chest, three-drawer cabinet on casters, two-shelf cabinet, and a closet typically 3' x 3'. Air conditioning and wireless in rooms are both listed amenities, though Housing also notes room temperature control is limited.

Day to day

Because every room has its own individual-use bathroom, Wardall's floors feel quieter and more suite-like than the community-bathroom halls in Ikenberry Commons. Listed amenities include a dining hall in the building, a la carte dining in the building, a computer lab, a fitness room, break housing, and laundry with the cost included. ISR also houses the TerraBYTE retail location and the InfiniTEA tea bar. Wardall is home to the Honors Living-Learning Community, and its own page describes the hall as quiet and conducive to academic success, with proximity to the Engineering Quad making it a natural fit for students in rigorous academic programs.

Move-in day

Wardall residents move in during the general New Resident Move-In window of August 19-20, 2026, with Living-Learning Community members — including the Honors LLC — arriving August 18. ISR's layout, with Wardall and Townsend sharing a dining and programming core, means move-in traffic concentrates around the shared ISR entrance and loading areas, so families should expect a scheduled time slot and plan for elevator queues serving both buildings during peak hours.
