The room

Every resident still gets their own extra-long twin bed on a three-height frame, a desk, and a dresser, plus the standard MicroFridge combo unit shared with a roommate. The mattress is 36 by 80 by 8 inches, so XL twin sheets. Suites are carpeted throughout except the main entry and the bathrooms. One quirk worth catching before you shop: UC Davis's official what-to-bring list tells students to pack a mirror only if they're assigned to Tahoe Hall. Because Cuarto's suites open onto a shared living room rather than straight onto a public hallway, Tahoe reads less like a classic dorm corridor and more like a small shared apartment.

Day to day

Each Tahoe suite has its own bathrooms shared among its two to four bedrooms -- a real step up in privacy from the cluster community bathrooms in Segundo and Tercero, and the reason a bathrobe and shower shoes matter less here. Laundry is one room with 6 washers and 6 dryers for the building's roughly 225 residents. Tahoe also houses the Cuarto Academic Advising Center and serves as the area's administrative hub, with the Area Service Desk, area office and coordinator offices inside, and its outdoor courtyard (benches, planters, grass and masonry paver areas) is a common hangout spot; the hall also has a fenced and gated bike parking lot. Mail is handled next door on the first floor of Yosemite Hall, not in Tahoe itself, and there is one mailbox per suite rather than per room. The Cuarto Residential Academic Center is in Shasta Hall. Unlike Segundo and Tercero, Cuarto buildings are not attached to the campus central plant, so residents get genuine year-round control of both heating and cooling rather than a seasonal switch.

Move-in day

Tahoe Hall's Fall 2026 Moove-In check-in happens at the Shasta Hall Multipurpose Room (MPR), Cuarto's designated area station, not at Tahoe directly. Appointments run Tuesday September 15 through Thursday September 17, 2026, booked through the myHousing Portal after your room assignment email arrives -- arrive on the day of and shortly before your scheduled time, since Moove-In is appointment-only, and anyone arriving after 6 PM checks in at the Area Service Desk instead. Cuarto sits one block northwest of the Segundo Area and the northwest corner of campus, slightly farther out than Segundo or Tercero, so factor that into drop-off timing if you're driving.
