Cal Poly is converting from the quarter system to semesters starting Fall 2026 — its first-ever semester academic year. The freshman residential requirement just expanded to all colleges starting with Fall 2026 admits (a genuine 2-year mandate, previously college-specific). Move-in is split by neighborhood: Aug 18 for yak˔itʸutʸu and South Mountain, Aug 19 for Sierra Madre/Yosemite and North Mountain. Air conditioning is confirmed absent campus-wide, and lofted beds/risers added by students are explicitly banned — only Housing staff can change bed height or configuration.
