UCLA Dorm Checklist 2026

UCLA guarantees housing for all admitted freshmen across The Hill's four residential courts. AC is NOT universal — Classic halls (Dykstra, Rieber, Hedrick, Sproul) and Suites (Hitch, Saxon) have none; Deluxe and Plaza buildings are air-conditioned. Move-in starts September 16. Pick your hall for verified room data.

Common questions about UCLA dorms

What size bed does UCLA use?
All UCLA residence halls use XL Twin beds (36"×80"). Standard twin sheets won't fit — buy bedding labeled "Twin XL" or "Extra-Long Twin." Students 6'5" or taller can request a 36"×84" XXL mattress from Housing.
Which UCLA dorms have air conditioning?
It depends on your building type. Deluxe halls (De Neve, Sproul Cove, Sproul Landing, Olympic, Centennial) and Plaza residences (De Neve Plaza, Sunset Village, Rieber Terrace, Rieber Vista, Hedrick Summit) all have AC. Classic halls (Dykstra, Rieber, Hedrick, Sproul) and Suites (Hitch, Saxon) do not. Personal AC units are prohibited campus-wide — pack a fan if you're in a Classic or Suite.
Can I bring a mini-fridge or microwave to UCLA?
You can bring a personal mini-fridge (max 6 cubic feet, UL-certified). Standalone microwaves are prohibited. If you want a microwave, rent a MicroFridge combo unit through UCLA Housing — it's one unit with both a fridge and microwave built in.
Can I bring candles or string lights to UCLA?
No to candles and incense — prohibited campus-wide. String lights are also prohibited. Halogen lamps are banned. Use LED desk lamps (bring your own — not provided) and standard floor lamps only.
When does UCLA move-in start?
On-campus housing move-in runs September 16–19, 2026. You'll receive your specific date and time window in late August. Meal plans begin with dinner on September 20; you get 3 daily gratis meal swipes Sept 16–20 while you settle in.
