Living in Zura: what to know before you pack

The room

Zura offers 300 units, primarily triple-occupancy with a limited number of quad, double, and single rooms. Every room includes Twin XL beds, a desk, chair, and closet storage, plus the university's combination microwave-refrigerator unit. Communal restrooms sit on each floor. Bed height is fixed for the triple and quad rooms that make up most first-year assignments; a paid raise-service request through the Housing Portal is only available in singles and doubles, so most Zura residents should plan around a stationary bed frame.

Day to day

Zura shares its outdoor recreation area with Tenochca, Maya, and Olmeca — a pool, basketball and volleyball courts, a putting green, and BBQ pits — and adds an observation deck of its own. Inside, residents get a 24/7 front desk, community kitchen and living areas, on-site laundry, Wi-Fi study spaces, TV streaming, and Wēpa printing. Non-local first-year students accepted into the Weber Honors College are required to live in Zura's Honors Residential Learning Community for their first year; local honors students may choose it but aren't obligated. A meal plan is required and utilities are included.

Move-in day

Zura residents receive one of three assigned Fall 2026 move-in days (August 19–21) and a specific check-in window by email in early July. Cars should go first to designated parking lots (P2, P7, P15, or P17) rather than the building itself, and after 4 p.m. movers should check in at the community front desk since moving-help staff become limited. Zura sits at 6124 Montezuma Rd on the east side of campus.

Comfort & Room

(16)
  • Gym bag / duffel (with shoe pocket)

  • Sleep mask + earplugs

Microwave- and dishwasher-safe plates, bowls, and cups so you're not eating ramen out of the pot

Haul a whole carload of bedding and clothes in one trip, then fold them flat to store bulky stuff over breaks
  • Folding hand truck / dolly
Rolls a mini-fridge, boxes, and furniture up to your room in far fewer trips, then folds flat to slide under the bed
