Living in White Hall: what to know before you pack
The room
White Hall's standard rooms measure roughly 16' x 12'6" and house two first-year residents in a traditional layout. Each side includes a movable bed frame, a wardrobe with a mirror inside (no built-in closet), a desk, a desk chair, and a 3-drawer chest. The 60-inch adjustable-height bed frames raise and lower but are explicitly not bunkable, and the hall page posts 18 inches of storage under the bed when unbunked. Because risers cannot be used on these frames, that 18 inches is the real limit for under-bed bins. As with sibling first-year halls, students supply their own XL-twin linens and any permitted small appliances within the university's wattage caps.
Day to day
White is air-conditioned with community bathrooms and an ADA-accessible bath on every floor, plus laundry facilities included in the housing fee, kitchen and vending facilities, and a water bottle filling station. At a maximum occupancy of 264, it's one of the larger first-year halls in App State's system. A dining meal plan is required for residents, and MicroFridge combo units are available to rent separately from the university's vendor for students who don't want to bring a standalone microwave and fridge.
Move-in day
White Hall's first-year residents move in during the university-wide August 11-13, 2026 window, with an appointment slot selected in the University Housing Portal and adjustable through August 1. The standard 30-minute curbside unloading limit applies before vehicles must relocate. Given White's size (264 residents), peak move-in windows can see heavier hallway traffic, so families should expect some wait during the busiest appointment blocks. The mandatory residence hall meeting follows at 7pm on Thursday, August 13.
