UNC-Chapel Hill requires nearly every first-year student to live on campus for their full first year, spreading incoming Tar Heels across a dozen First-Year Experience halls on North and South Campus. Rooms come with twin XL, loftable beds, and AC varies by hall -- window units in the South Campus suite high-rises, central HVAC in the North Campus corridor halls. Fall 2026 move-in ran August 12-17, arranged by individual appointment through the MyHousing portal.
