Surge protectorRequired at most schools — plain extension cords are banned.
Shower caddyCommunal bathrooms — you carry everything to and from the shower.

Common questions about UNC Wilmington dorms
- Are freshmen required to live on campus at UNCW?
- Yes — first-year students admitted for summer or fall must live on campus for two full years, a policy in effect since Fall 2021. Automatic exemptions apply if you're under 17 or from New Hanover, Pender, or Brunswick county; students 21+, veterans, married, or with dependents can request a written waiver.
- Are UNCW dorms air conditioned?
- All four first-year halls list AC as an included utility. It's well corroborated for Sandpiper (built 2020) and Belk (HVAC fully replaced in a 2018 renovation); Cornerstone residents confirm it in reviews; Schwartz's AC rests on the official page alone.
- When does Fall 2026 move-in happen?
- August 12-15, 2026, staggered by hall: Sandpiper Aug 12-15, Belk/Cornerstone Aug 13-14, Schwartz Aug 14.
