UNC Greensboro Freshman Dorms 2026

UNCG does not require first-year students to live on campus, though 80% of freshmen choose to — apply early for the best shot at your preferred hall. Traditional first-year halls like Reynolds, Cone, Grogan, and Moore/Strong pair students in air-conditioned double rooms with community bathrooms, using loft-style Twin XL bed frames that adjust from 5 to 59 inches under the mattress. Fall 2026 move-in is staggered by hall from August 12 through 18, with Reynolds moving in first on the 12th and Cone last among these four on the 14th.

What to bring to UNC Greensborodorms — and what’s already there

Every UNCGfreshman hall includes the same base furnishings. Skip anything already in your room, pack what’s missing, and leave the banned items at home.

Extension cords of any type are banned outright, with no UL-listed exception.

Hoverboards, e-bikes, electric scooters, and electric skateboards cannot be used, possessed, stored, or charged in any residence hall due to battery fire risk.

Only fish in a 10-gallon or smaller tank are allowed as pets; all other animals are prohibited.

Refrigerators are capped at 3.5 cubic feet and microwaves at 800 watts — a MicroFridge combo unit is the preferred option.
