University of Toledo Freshman Dorms 2026

UToledo requires first- and second-year students under 21 whose permanent home is more than 25 miles from campus to live on campus with a meal plan, with documented exemptions for marriage, military duty, dependents, financial hardship, and other cases. Parks Tower is the university's only all-first-year hall (two-person rooms, community bathrooms, XL twin on an adjustable loft with side table), while Ottawa House and Presidents Hall are suite-style halls with private in-suite bathrooms and XL twin adjustable low-loft beds and carry no published class-year restriction. All three list air conditioning as a standard amenity. Fall 2026 first-year move-in is Thursday, August 27.

What to bring to University of Toledodorms — and what’s already there

Every UToledofreshman hall includes the same base furnishings. Skip anything already in your room, pack what’s missing, and leave the banned items at home.

Intentionally activating a fire alarm carries an expected sanction of suspension for at least one semester plus repayment of costs incurred; UToledo publishes no flat dollar fine.

Keys not returned at check-out trigger a minimum $125 charge per lock change; the first lockout is free and each additional lockout is $50.

First- and second-year students under 21 living outside a 25-mile radius must live on campus with a meal plan unless formally exempted.

What size bed is in University of Toledo dorm rooms?
Every UToledo room has an XL twin, but the frame differs by hall: Parks Tower lists an XL twin on an adjustable loft with a side table, while Ottawa House and Presidents Hall both list an XL twin on an adjustable low loft.
Are first-year students required to live on campus at Toledo?
Yes -- first- and second-year students under 21 whose permanent residence is outside a 25-mile radius of the university at the time of admission are required to live on campus and have a meal plan, though the university grants exemptions for marriage, military activation, dependent children, financial hardship, being over 21 before the semester starts, and other extenuating circumstances.
Are UToledo residence halls air conditioned?
Yes, air conditioning is itemized in the amenities list on the official pages for Parks Tower, Ottawa House East and West, and Presidents Hall.
Can I bring my own fridge and microwave?
Yes -- UToledo's packing list allows a refrigerator of 4 cu. ft. or less and a microwave of 1000 watts or less, and the university links a MicroFridge rental option for an all-in-one unit. Coffee makers are allowed only if they have automatic shutoff.
