Ohio State Dorm Checklist 2026

Ohio State requires every freshman to live on campus. North Residential towers have full AC — but Siebert Hall has none. Every room includes a combo fridge/microwave unit. Pick your hall below for verified room data.

Each hall has its own checklist sized to that exact room.

What’s in every room — and what isn’t

Every Ohiofreshman hall includes the same base furnishings. Here’s what you can skip buying, what you’ll need to bring, and what’s banned.

OSU provides a combo fridge/freezer/microwave in every room — personal fridges and microwaves are prohibited. You cannot bring your own.

Self-constructed lofts are banned. Institutional lofting requests take at least 1 week to process and are not available in every hall.

Common questions about Ohio State dorms

When does Ohio State send housing assignments?
OSU typically releases housing assignments in mid-to-late July. You'll get an email with your specific hall and room — hold off on buying anything hall-specific until then.
Do all Ohio State dorms have air conditioning?
No. Morrill, Lincoln, Drackett, and Taylor towers have full AC. Siebert Hall has no air conditioning at all. Nosker, Park-Stradley, Smith-Steeb, and other corridor halls have AC on some floors but not all. Check your specific hall and floor assignment.
Can I bring a mini-fridge to Ohio State?
No. Every freshman hall comes with a combo fridge/freezer/microwave unit already in the room. Bringing a personal fridge or microwave is prohibited. The provided unit is shared by roommates.
Can I loft my bed in Ohio State dorms?
You cannot build your own loft. Institutional lofting is available in some halls — submit a service request through OSU Housing, but expect at least a 1-week wait and know it's not guaranteed in every building. Some students rent through Bedloft.com.
Can I bring a moving truck to Ohio State move-in?
No commercial moving trucks (U-Haul, Penske, etc.) are allowed on campus during move-in. OSU assigns specific arrival windows — use personal vehicles only and check your assignment email for your designated time.
