The room

Every Reid room is a straightforward double: two 36-inch by 75-inch regular twin mattresses (about 7.5 inches thick), two built-in closets, two dressers, and two movable desks each with an attached hutch for books. Because Reid uses the shorter regular-twin mattress rather than the long twin common elsewhere at UArk, standard extra-long dorm sheet sets will be too long -- buy regular twin, not twin XL. The provided bed frames adjust every three inches from 24 to 59 inches of clearance, using the steel bed spring that drops into slots in the posts; front desks hand out rubber mallets during move-in. Building your own loft, or raising a bed on cinder blocks, bricks, woodblocks or PVC, is against policy. Bathrooms are community style, shared by others on the floor rather than in-suite. Ethernet and a networked smoke detector are wired into every room, and Reid's own hall page states it is air-conditioned, with carpeted hallways.

Day to day

Reid houses 459 residents and is one of the few remaining single-sex halls on campus, open only to female students and described by Housing as a primarily freshmen facility. It sits on the north side of campus on Cleveland Street next to Maple Hill West, with a Razorback Transit stop out front -- useful, since it's roughly 11 minutes on foot to the Arkansas Union and 17 to the 1021 Food Hall, farther than the central halls. Inside, residents share laundry in the building, a kitchen with cooking equipment checked out from the front desk, common spaces for studying and socializing, exercise equipment, mental health services, and an elevator. Reid's community style means more built-in social contact than suite-style halls: floor bathrooms and open lounges put residents in each other's paths daily. The trade-off is less privacy than Adohi or Maple Hill's suite layouts, and a higher room rate than the central community halls.

Move-in day

Fall 2026 move-in runs Wednesday, Aug. 5 through Saturday, Aug. 8, but Aug. 5 general move-in is limited to Hotz, Humphreys and Yocum -- Reid residents arrive Aug. 6, 7 or 8. Reid is also singled out in the early drop-off schedule: Arkansas residents assigned to Reid may choose either July 30 or July 31, whichever slot is available, while other eligible halls get July 31 only. On your arrival day you check in first at Baum-Walker Stadium at your scheduled time to get keys and instructions, then drive to the hall, where you get 30 minutes to unload at the lot and no time limit after that for carrying things up. Because Reid is an older, lower-capacity community hall rather than a high-rise, expect a shorter elevator wait than at Yocum or Pomfret, but narrower hallways and stairwells during peak arrival hours. Arrival times are selected through the Housing Portal during the June 8-18 window.
