The room

A Middle Earth Classic single measures about 130 sq ft, larger than Mesa Court's ~100 sq ft equivalent. The furniture spec, however, is identical across both communities: UCI's 2026-27 table lists the same 39"w x 85"d x 36"h bed frame and Twin XL mattress (36"w x 80"L x 8" thick) for Middle Earth Classics and Mesa Court Classics alike, along with a 42-inch desk, a 40-inch hutch and a 36"w x 24"d x 72"h wardrobe. Doubles (~188 sq ft) add a second bed/desk/wardrobe set, and triples (~173 sq ft) switch to a lofted configuration with a desk underneath. Middle Earth also offers the attached double (~370 sq ft across the pair), a room type UCI lists only for this community. Current floor plans are marked "Layouts Vary," so treat specifics as typical rather than guaranteed.

Day to day

Classic Halls are organized into suites of 5-10 rooms with shared bathrooms — UCI describes these as both single-gender and gender-inclusive — at 48-96 beds per building. Amenities cluster around Brandywine Dining Commons (a meal plan is required) and a set of 24/7 study lounges: Arkenstone, Bucklebury, Nienna and the Wellinghall Study Pavilion. The Pippin Mail, Recreation and Fitness Center adds music practice rooms, a large dance room, gaming space and a fitness center with treadmills, free weights and yoga mats. Hydration stations sit in each hall and across from Bucklebury. Gender-inclusive housing is also available through the Open House theme hall, which UCI references for Mesa Court as well.

Move-in day

Move-in for Middle Earth Classic Halls is September 19-20, 2026, the same schedule as the rest of the residence halls. Complimentary parking is available on move-in day with a 20-minute cap on loading zones, and residents sign up for a 30-minute arrival slot after the housing assignment email arrives in early September. As with all UCI buildings, elevator access varies and not every building has one, so check your specific Move-In Guide beforehand. Renters insurance coverage and the attestation form are required before you can check in, and packages can't be delivered before September 15.
