Common questions about TCU dorms
- Do TCU dorms have air conditioning?
- Yes — TCU housing gives most rooms individual controls for heating and air conditioning, though heating and cooling are ultimately managed from a central campus location. Personal AC units are explicitly prohibited regardless, including window and portable units — bringing one means it gets confiscated.
- What size bed does TCU use?
- Most TCU first-year halls use XL Twin mattresses (39"×80") on adjustable-height loft frames. King Hall and the single rooms in Milton Daniel Hall are the exception, using larger XL Full mattresses (54"×80"). Check your specific hall and room type before buying sheets.
- How long do I have to live on campus at TCU?
- First-year students under 21 are required to live on campus for their first two years at TCU. Exemptions apply if you turn 21 by the first day of fall classes, are married or have dependent children living with you, live with parents/guardians within 30 miles of campus, are a veteran, or are enrolled part-time (fewer than 9 credit hours).
- Can I bring a microwave or mini-fridge to TCU?
- A micro-fridge is provided in every room or unit, so you don't need to bring your own refrigerator. A personal microwave, however, is prohibited campus-wide alongside hot plates, toasters, rice cookers, and other cooking appliances.
