UTSA Freshman Dorms 2026

UTSA has no blanket live-on requirement, but Guadalupe Hall is mandatory for Honors College first-years. Chisholm Hall — the oldest on campus — was closed for renovation through summer 2026; confirm it's reopened before booking. Fall 2026 move-in runs Aug 13-16. Pick your hall for verified room data.

Every UTSA residence hall below has verified bed dimensions, AC status, and a checklist sized to that exact room.

What to bring to UTSAdorms — and what’s already there

Every UTSAfreshman hall includes the same base furnishings. Skip anything already in your room, pack what’s missing, and leave the banned items at home.

Bed risers and loft kits are prohibited in every hall — furniture modification is not allowed regardless of frame type.

Pets beyond one 5-gallon fish-only tank draw a $100/day fine per resident until removed, plus possible cleaning/fumigation charges.

UTSA is a 100% tobacco- and smoke-free campus — banned everywhere, including personal vehicles parked on campus.

Alvarez, Blanco, Chaparral Village, Chisholm, and Guadalupe are alcohol-free regardless of age — only Laurel Village allows alcohol for residents 21+.

Personal AC units are banned campus-wide — central air is provided in every hall instead.

Common questions about UTSA dorms

Does UTSA require freshmen to live on campus?
No — UTSA does not have a live-on requirement, and it's only "highly recommended" for first-years. The one exception is the Honors College: if you accept an Honors College invitation, you're required to live in Guadalupe Hall specifically. Honors-specific exemptions are handled directly by the Honors office (210-458-4106, honors@utsa.edu), not by Housing.
What if I have a roommate conflict at UTSA?
Bring it to your RA first — that's the standard first step across all UTSA halls before escalating to Housing and Residence Life staff.
