UTEP Freshman Dorms 2026

UTEP has no campus-wide live-on requirement for any class year. Fall 2026 Move-In Day for the three on-campus residence communities is Aug. 20. Miner Canyon halls (Copper, Whispering Springs) have shared bedrooms and are concealed-carry exclusion zones; Miner Village halls (Sacramento, Guadalupe) have private lockable bedrooms and are not. Every UTEP residence hall below has verified bed dimensions, AC status, and a checklist sized to that exact room.

What to bring to UTEPdorms — and what’s already there

Every UTEPfreshman hall includes the same base furnishings. Skip anything already in your room, pack what’s missing, and leave the banned items at home.

UTEP housing is smoke-free campus-wide; violators are charged for cleaning and repairs.

Extension cords are not approved — plug high-wattage items directly into the wall with a UL-listed surge protector instead.

Concealed handguns are banned specifically in Copper and Whispering Springs (Miner Canyon) because those buildings have shared bedrooms; Sacramento and Guadalupe (Miner Village) have private lockable bedrooms and are not exclusion zones, per utep.edu/campuscarry/faq.

Housing contracts are binding for the full term — the last day to cancel Fall 2026 without penalty is June 30, 2026.

UTEP's own housing pages disagree on the date: a generic new/returning-resident boilerplate says Aug. 21, while the UTEP Newsfeed names Aug. 20 as the actual Move-In Day for the on-campus halls.

Common questions about UTEP dorms

When can I apply for UTEP housing?
Applications are accepted year-round.
Can I pick my own roommate?
Yes — self-select a roommate, or UTEP Housing will match you based on your profile.
Will staff clean my room?
No — housekeeping only responds to maintenance emergencies, not routine room cleaning.
Can I have a pet?
Only fish in a tank of 20 gallons or less. Emotional support and service animals go through a separate documented process, not the general pet policy.
