Living in Parker Hall: what to know before you pack

The room

Parker Hall's double rooms match Iba's footprint at 10 feet by 14 feet 7 inches, with a 5-foot-wide by 1-foot-10-inch-deep closet, a 46-by-58-inch exterior window, and vinyl wood-plank flooring. Each resident gets an XL twin bed frame and mattress, a desk and chair, a dresser, and a bookshelf, all included under mini blinds and central heat and air conditioning. A single-occupancy room on the same floor plan is set aside for students with an approved accessibility placement. As in every OSU traditional hall, bed frames provide 10 to 15 inches of under-bed clearance and vary by room, risers up to seven inches are allowed, and homemade or prefabricated lofts are banned.

Day to day

Parker Hall is home to 240 first-year students and one in-residence staff member from the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, with the CEAT Living Learning Program occupying all four floors. Residents also have access to the CEAT Parker Student Excellence Center, a presentation room, and dedicated study space through that partnership. Community bathrooms offer private stalls and showers, and the hall has a community kitchen, free unlimited laundry, a meditation room, and a first-floor lobby piano. The building is coed, with men and women living on separate floors or wings, and living rooms and lounges serve each area. Parker is part of the Scott-Parker-Wentz Triplex, and its desk services are provided next door at Wentz Hall.

Move-in day

Parker Hall sits near the Wentz Lane Parking Garage, about a 5-minute walk to Edmon Low Library and 9 minutes to Colvin Recreation Center. General move-in for Fall 2026 is August 12-13, following earlier appointment days reserved for band, PTP and student employees (Aug. 7), sorority members (Aug. 9), and Admitted Student Day participants (Aug. 11). Families should select a move-in appointment through the OSU Housing Portal in advance. Parker's desk services are handled at neighboring Wentz Hall, and mail and packages should be sent to the campus address only after move-in day so they aren't returned to sender.
