Ogden Hall Dorm Checklist 2026

Miami University

Standard double/single/triple occupancy rooms; corridor bathrooms per Miami's Standard room-category description

Ogden Hall was fully renovated in 2024, in Miami's 'Standard' category. Quad is contradictory across Miami's own pages: Ogden's profile says 'located on Central Quad,' while Miami's residence-hall directory files Ogden under Academic Quad and the official 2026 Ogden move-in map is captioned 'This map shows Academic Quad' — confirm with Residence Life. Ogden also houses Bell Tower Place and is a short distance from Armstrong Student Center. Air conditioning is not itemized on Ogden's own page.

  • Air conditioning is not published for Ogden specifically — confirm with Residence Life before move-in, since Ogden's building amenities list omits it even though Miami says its Standard category includes air conditioning.
  • Miami's move-in page warns you can avoid unnecessary move-out charges by using white putty, plasti-tac, or s-hooks on the picture rail — tape and command strips of any type are prohibited, as are nails.
  • Student-built lofts, platforms, and bed risers are prohibited; only authorized University staff may bunk or un-bunk a bed.
  • The low-loft frame height is set at installation and not published in inches; a dresser fits underneath. Student-built lofts, platforms and bed risers are prohibited, and beds may only be bunked or un-bunked by authorized University staff.

Living in Ogden Hall: what to know before you pack

The room

Ogden completed a full building renovation in 2024, putting it among Miami's newest Standard rooms, offered as double, single, or triple occupancy. Each room gets the campuswide Twin-XL low-loft bed with bed rail (85" x 36", with an 80" x 36" mattress) plus a desk, dresser, nightstand, closet or wardrobe, ergonomic chair, mirror, window shades, ceiling lights, trash and recycling cans, and a mini refrigerator at 33.6" H x 18.5" W x 19.5" D (3.6 cu. ft.). Miami notes a dresser will fit under the bed, though it doesn't publish an under-bed height in inches. The frame is set at installation — student lofts, platforms, and risers are prohibited, and bunking changes are staff-supervised. Because the renovation is recent, expect newer finishes than in Miami's Traditional, non-renovated halls.

Day to day

Ogden is at 401 East High Street and, per its own page, 'also houses Bell Tower Place' and is 'a short distance from Armstrong Student Center.' Worth knowing before you plan your walk: Ogden's page says it is on Central Quad, but Miami's residence-hall directory lists Ogden under Academic Quad (with Bishop, Elliott, and Stoddard) and the official 2026 Ogden move-in map is captioned 'This map shows Academic Quad' — two of three Miami pages say Academic. Building amenities listed by Miami: cold beverage and snack vending, a grand piano, kitchenette, living room, on-floor study rooms, television, washers and dryers, and outdoor bike storage. Note that unlike Collins and Havighurst, Ogden's amenities list does not include 'Air-conditioned.' Bathroom style isn't stated on Ogden's page; Miami's rates page says Standard halls have 'completely new corridor bathrooms.'

Move-in day

Ogden gets its own map on Miami's 2026 move-in page, captioned 'Ogden Hall (Thursday and Friday)' — so August 20 or 21. The map routes traffic onto Irvin Drive from E. Spring Street, with a left just before Ogden for unloading and an exit west onto Campus Avenue. Your specific day and time block come in the housing assignment email, sent on a rolling basis from mid-July with assignment info out by the end of July. If flights have to be booked first, Miami advises first-year students to plan on Friday, August 21.

Ogden Hall FAQ

Is Ogden Hall air-conditioned?
Miami doesn't itemize it for Ogden. Ogden's building amenities list omits 'Air-conditioned' — unlike Collins, Porter, and Havighurst, which all list it. Confirm with Residence Life for this specific building.
When was Ogden Hall renovated?
A complete building renovation was completed in 2024, per Miami's official hall profile.
What quad is Ogden Hall on?
