Living in Quad II: what to know before you pack

The room

Quad II rooms measure roughly 14 by 15 feet and hold a traditional double or single, furnished with a twin extra-long bed and mattress, closet space, dresser, desk, chair, and blinds or curtains. A microfridge and WiFi are standard, along with a ceiling fan in place of air conditioning and linoleum flooring rather than carpet. Bathrooms are communal, shared by floor and separated by gender. As with Quad I, Quad II's page says nothing about lofting the bed frames either way, so check with Residence Life before planning to loft.

Day to day

Quad II spans five floors organized into ten houses and holds about 505 students, making it one of the larger traditional halls at Rutgers–New Brunswick. Residents share a media room, a study lounge, a main lounge, house lounges, and a laundry facility, plus recreation space with a pool table, ping pong, and foosball. Like Quad I, it sits on Livingston Campus, which has its own dining hall, student center, and the Livingston Recreation Center nearby, all linked to the rest of New Brunswick by the free Rutgers bus system.

Move-in day

New first-year and transfer students move into Quad II on August 26, 2026 — a day earlier than Quad I next door — with pickup staggered by house rather than one shared block: houses 20–21 at 8:00–10:30 a.m., 22–23 at 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., 24–25 at 12:30–2:00 p.m., 26–27 at 2:00–3:30 p.m., and 28–29 at 3:30–5:00 p.m. Key pickup is at the Top of Quad Circle. Early arrival is limited to students approved through the Early Arrival/Move-In Team Volunteer form, on August 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. New Rutgers Global international students move in August 24 at the Livingston Residence Life Office, and continuing students August 28–31.
