Living in Earhart Hall: what to know before you pack
The room
Earhart's standard traditional room gives each resident a bed or lofted bed with standard mattress (77" x 36" x 7", with a long 89" x 36" x 7" option first-come for residents 6'4" and up), a desk with chair, a desk light, and a share of the built-in dressers with mirrors, plus a bookshelf, towel bars, curtains, and a waste basket. Rooms run roughly 11'-6.5" by 16'-4" with a walk-in closet about 4'-4" wide and 3'-9" deep. The headline feature is per-room climate control: Purdue states each room is air-conditioned with individual temperature controls, so temperature isn't something roommates negotiate hall-wide. A network connection is provided at the desk.
Day to day
Earhart offers traditional-style rooms with shared community bathrooms along the floor, plus a mop sink room on each floor. Earhart Dining Court is located right downstairs, including an "On-The-GO!" station with quick hot or cold meal options, so residents can eat without stepping outside. Shared spaces include recreational rooms with game tables, a central laundry room, a kitchenette, a computer and print station, and a piano in the main lobby. Every resident is a member of the hall's Itasca Club.
Move-in day
New students move in primarily during Boiler Gold Rush, August 15 through August 18, 2026, in an assigned 30-minute timeslot; Boiler Gold Rush International students arrive August 14, and the no-early-arrival group starts August 21. Because Earhart is air-conditioned in every room, move-in day comfort is less of a factor here than in Purdue's non-AC halls -- pack for a normal August day rather than planning around heat.
