University of Louisville Freshman Dorms 2026
UofL requires all first-year students to live on campus, and now also requires second-year students to live on-campus or in an affiliated property (The Nine, The Province, The Retreat, or Greek Row houses count). This is a real, recently-expanded residential system — Belknap Village North/South opened 2021/2022 as part of an $87M investment. Move-in runs Aug 12 (LLC/themed communities and select buildings) through Aug 16, 2026, with a headline general-freshman day of Aug 13. All buildings are confirmed air-conditioned.

Every UofLfreshman hall includes the same base furnishings. Skip anything already in your room, pack what’s missing, and leave the banned items at home.
⚠ Both a First-Year Live-On Policy AND a Second-Year Residential Requirement are in force — the sophomore requirement can be satisfied via Greek Row housing or affiliated apartments, not only traditional dorms.
⚠ Damage reports for Fall 2026 must be filed by August 23rd or a checkout charge applies.
⚠ Renter's insurance is NOT required, only recommended — the university assumes no responsibility for personal property.
⚠ Loft rentals are hall-specific: available at Kurz Hall and Community Park via College Products; NOT offered at Belknap Village North (beds are physically not loftable) or Louisville Hall.
