Murray State University Freshman Dorms 2026

Murray State requires new students to live on campus for two years (four full-time semesters), with real, published exemptions rather than a blanket rule. Fall 2026 general move-in runs Friday-Saturday, August 14-15, with early arrival for special groups on August 12, and classes start Tuesday, August 18. Air conditioning is a genuine gap: Hart, Hester, and RH White share a building-wide two-pipe HVAC system, while JH Richmond is one of just three halls campus-wide with independently controlled heat/AC.

What to bring to Murray State Universitydorms — and what’s already there

Every Murray Statefreshman hall includes the same base furnishings. Skip anything already in your room, pack what’s missing, and leave the banned items at home.

Air conditioning is not confirmed on any individual hall's own page. Hart, Hester, and RH White share a building-wide 'two-pipe' system; only JH Richmond, Lee Clark, and HC Franklin have independent per-room heat/AC control.

The only loft option at Murray State is a paid Bedloft rental; homemade/illegal lofts are explicitly banned campus-wide.

Headboards are prohibited campus-wide.
