Northern Kentucky University requires all first-time, full-time undergraduates to live on campus for their first two semesters, with eight documented exemptions — living 40 miles or less from campus with a parent/guardian, being married/divorced/widowed, having dependent children, turning 21 by the first day of class, active or six-months-served military duty, enrollment in a fully online program, residing at Opportunity House after two semesters and 30 credit hours, or a Contract Review Committee-approved extraordinary circumstance. All three residence halls use extra-long, height-adjustable twin beds — students can rent an official loft through University Housing's bedloft.com partnership, but building or bringing your own loft is prohibited.
