Indiana State University Freshman Dorms 2026
Indiana State requires first-year students with fewer than 30 earned academic credits to live in university housing for two semesters, and most land in one of the four Sycamore Towers — Blumberg, Cromwell, Mills, or Rhoads — all connected to Sycamore Dining. Every room ships a height-adjustable Twin XL bed frame that ranges from 16 to 30 inches off the ground; Blumberg and Rhoads additionally include a loft at no extra step, while Cromwell and Mills residents can rent a bedloft through the housing portal at the start of the year. Fall 2026 new-student move-in runs Friday, August 14 through Saturday, August 15, 2026, 8am-4pm both days by appointment.

⚠ A lost room key triggers a mandatory re-core of the lock, billed at $120 total for most halls.
⚠ Entering the dining hall without paying, or removing extra food/dishes beyond one piece of hand fruit and one ice cream cone, is treated as theft and can trigger disciplinary referral — repeated or egregious violations can result in cancellation of the housing and food contract.
⚠ Because of the two-semester first-year residency requirement, new first-year students are not eligible to request the contract buy-out during their initial contract period.
⚠ Air conditioning in Blumberg, Cromwell, Mills, and Rhoads is confirmed via the campus-wide amenities list rather than a hall-specific statement for each — news coverage of each hall's renovation (Mills ~2014-15, Blumberg ~2015-16, Cromwell and Rhoads 2016-17) independently corroborates all four now have AC after not originally being built with it in 1964-65.
