Living in Hashinger Hall: what to know before you pack

The room

Hashinger's rooms are built around a lofted extra-long twin bed (36 in x 80 in) — KU's hall page states plainly that "the beds are lofted," and the furniture-dimensions page confirms "all beds can be lofted" in Hashinger. That's a different default from Corbin or GSP, where KU publishes no lofting guidance at all. KU doesn't say whether students can request the bed be lowered instead, so anyone who prefers a floor-level bed should ask Residence Life directly. Rooms come in 1-person and 2-person configurations, each with its own sink and mirror, plus a slightly shorter desk and dresser than the Daisy Hill standard (both 27 in high). There's also a larger private room type KU describes as a "double as a single."

Day to day

Hashinger sits on Daisy Hill near Daisy Hill Commons and Mrs. E's Dining Center, and houses 370 coed residents. The building is known on campus for its performance and creative spaces — a performance theater, dance studio, music rehearsal space, and academic resource center — giving it a different social character than the more traditional GSP or Corbin. It's within easy walking distance of Daisy Hill's five other residence halls, so students who want quick access to friends in Ellsworth, Self, Oswald, Templin, or Lewis often request Hashinger specifically.

Move-in day

Hashinger moves in with Oswald and Templin on Friday, August 21, 2026, with arrival windows from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM staggered by room number. Approved early arrivals can check in Saturday, August 15. The general campus move-in window runs August 18-21.
