Living in GSP Hall: what to know before you pack
The room
GSP offers 1-, 2-, and 4-person rooms furnished with the standard KU set: an extra-long twin bed (36 in x 80 in), a 42 in x 24 in x 30 in desk with chair, and a 31.5 in x 24 in x 30 in dresser, plus approximately 3 ft of closet space per resident with an average of 60 vertical inches of hanging space and a shelf above the rod. The standout feature is climate control — KU's own hall page states "all rooms have individual heating and cooling capabilities," making GSP the one traditional hall where air conditioning is explicitly itemized rather than inferred. Bed lofting is not addressed for GSP on KU's furniture-dimensions page, so families who need a lofted bed should confirm directly with Residence Life before move-in.
Day to day
GSP sits in KU's North District, a short, level walk from the Kansas Union, Memorial Stadium, and downtown Lawrence — flatter and closer to downtown than the Daisy Hill halls. The building includes North College Cafe, large living rooms on each floor, a hearth room with a piano and fireplace, a room with a pool table, a group study room with tables and chairs, and an in-hall classroom with Smart Board technology, giving it more built-in study and social space than some of the older Daisy Hill buildings. Each floor has a community bath plus a single private bathroom.
Move-in day
GSP moves in alongside Corbin Hall on Friday, August 21, 2026, with arrival windows from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM staggered by room number. An early-arrival option is available Saturday, August 15 for approved students. The overall campus move-in window runs August 18-21.
