Living in Lake Claire: what to know before you pack

The room

Lake Claire is UCF's only apartment-style first-year community: four-bedroom, two-bathroom units with a living room and a kitchen, spread across fifteen buildings arranged in three courtyards. Each furnished bedroom includes an X-Long Twin (80") bed on an 80" x 36" frame with 30" of under-bed height, plus a desk and chair, dresser, shelves, and closet — no vanity sink here, unlike the suite-style halls. The kitchen comes with a full-size refrigerator, sinks, and plenty of cabinetry (12 cabinets and 3 drawers). What residents still need to bring: a microwave (Lake Claire's kitchens don't include one), bedding, toilet paper, and — because it's a full kitchen — pots, pans, cooking and eating utensils, and dishes, none of which UCF supplies.

Day to day

Community amenities include a shared laundry room, a community activity center, a mail center, a designated parking area, vending machines, and Wi-Fi with Knightflix access. Lake Claire sits near the Lake Claire Recreational Area, the Student Union, and Knights Plaza, giving residents easy access to both quiet green space and the busier side of campus. Because Lake Claire has a real kitchen in every unit, it's also one of the only first-year communities where small kitchen appliances like toaster ovens, rice cookers, and air fryers are allowed — UCF's packing list restricts those to apartment-style kitchens campus-wide.

Move-in day

Lake Claire's Fall 2026 move-in follows the same Thursday, August 20 – Saturday, August 22 schedule as the rest of campus, with 15-minute check-in windows from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Lake Claire Community Center. UCF lists Lake Claire's unloading zones as Lots H5, H6, H7, H8, and H9, with long-term parking afterward in Garage H — check your assignment letter for the specific lot. Because units are apartment-style, plan to bring more than a typical dorm move — cookware, dishes, and utensils in addition to the standard bedding and microwave. Move vehicles to long-term parking, which is valid only until Monday at 7 a.m.
