University of Central Florida Freshman Dorms 2026
UCF does not require first-year students to live on campus, but priority for on-campus housing goes to incoming first-year students and most choose one of five dedicated first-year communities (Apollo, Libra, Lake Claire, Neptune, and Nike/Hercules). Rooms are furnished with an X-Long Twin (80") mattress, desk and chair, dresser, and closet, with utilities included and no usage caps; students bring their own microwave and mini fridge. Fall 2026 move-in runs August 20–22, with classes starting August 24.

- What size bed is in a UCF freshman dorm room?
- Every first-year community — Apollo, Libra, Nike, Hercules, Neptune, Lake Claire, and Rosen — uses an x-long twin (80") mattress, per UCF's own packing list. Only Towers (full-size) and NorthView (queen/full XL) differ, and neither is a typical freshman assignment. Bed frame footprints vary slightly by community (Apollo 83" x 38"; Libra and Lake Claire 80" x 36"; Neptune 80" x 37").
- Can I bring a mini fridge and microwave?
- Yes — a microwave no more than 1,000 watts and a refrigerator no more than 5 cubic feet are allowed, but UCF does not provide either; every first-year resident brings their own.
- Can I loft or raise my bed?
- Not on your own. Bed mattresses are raised to their highest level prior to move-in and additional lifts or risers of any kind are not permitted. Only maintenance staff may alter bed heights — if you want yours lowered, submit a housing work order. (Beds at Towers and NorthView cannot be adjusted at all.)
- When is Fall 2026 move-in?
- Fall 2026 move-in runs Thursday, August 20 through Saturday, August 22, 2026, by appointment between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. — each appointment is a 15-minute arrival window for check-in, not a deadline to finish unloading. Fall classes begin Monday, August 24. (UCF's Important Dates page labels August 22 as a Sunday, but August 22, 2026 is a Saturday and the Fall Move-In page says Saturday.)
- Are freshmen required to live on campus at UCF?
- No. UCF's admissions FAQ states: 'No, first-year students are not required to live on campus. Most first-year students do live on campus...'
