Towson University Freshman Dorms 2026
New freshmen at Towson are guaranteed University Housing for four consecutive semesters as long as they meet every housing process deadline, and 85% of freshmen live on campus across the university's 18 residential communities (incoming freshmen aren't eligible for the apartment communities). Every first-year room comes with an XL twin bed measuring 36 by 80 inches, a university-issued MicroFridge, and an AC/heating unit -- Housing & Residence Life states air conditioning is provided in all halls. Fall 2026 move-in for new students runs August 19-20 at SECU Arena, split by last name.

Every Towsonfreshman hall includes the same base furnishings. Skip anything already in your room, pack what’s missing, and leave the banned items at home.
⚠ Only the university-provided MicroFridge and a single-cup coffee maker are allowed in student rooms; other refrigerators, freezers, and microwaves are prohibited.
⚠ All beds except bunk beds must remain on the floor and may not be elevated in any manner -- this is Housing & Residence Life's furnishings policy, and the packing list separately bans lofts, bed risers, and cinder blocks.
⚠ New students must reserve a specific one-hour check-in window at SECU Arena in advance rather than going straight to their hall; slot invitations are emailed August 6, 2026 and the selection process opens August 7.
⚠ Freshmen aren't guaranteed a specific hall, room type, suitemates, or location within a building; assignments are made on a random basis by the department's housing management software using the roommate matching questionnaire.
⚠ Towson's own Incoming Freshmen page still shows an outdated "August 20 to August 21" move-in at "TU Arena" -- the Housing Calendar, the Moving In page, and TU's August 3, 2026 news article all give August 19 (last names A-K) and August 20 (L-Z) at SECU Arena.

- What size bed do Towson dorm rooms have?
- XL twin, and Towson publishes the dimensions: "All beds are XL Twin (80 inch x 36 inch) except Barnes Hall and Marshall which have full sized beds." Barnes and Marshall are West Village apartment buildings that incoming freshmen aren't eligible for.
- Can freshmen bring their own microwave or fridge?
- No. The only electrical cooking appliances allowed in student rooms are the university-provided MicroFridge and a single-cup coffee maker such as a Keurig; other refrigerators, freezers, and microwaves are prohibited.
- Are Towson dorms air conditioned?
- Yes. The Residence Halls & Apartments page states "Air conditioning is provided in all our halls," the housing FAQ says "All buildings are air-conditioned," and each hall page lists an AC/heating unit in every room, included in the room rate.
- When do freshmen move in for fall 2026?
- New students check in over two days at SECU Arena: Wednesday, August 19, 2026, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for last names A-K, and Thursday, August 20, same hours, for L-Z. Each student signs up in advance for a one-hour check-in window; parking is in Lot 8.
- Are freshmen required to live on campus at Towson?
