  • Housing states Goodnow and Marlatt have an extremely limited number of suite-style rooms — only a few floors have one wing of suites, and some suite types exist as just two rooms in the building.
  • Air conditioning is not itemized on Marlatt's page; K-State policy references an in-room heating/AC unit and bans personal AC units, so confirm cooling with Housing and Dining Services (785-532-6453) and pack a fan.
  • Adhering LED light strips to the walls carries a minimum $200 per-room repair charge.

Living in Marlatt Hall: what to know before you pack

The room

Marlatt's standard room is a traditional double sharing a community bathroom with divided toilet and shower stalls. The hall also has suite-style rooms — the published rate sheet lists 1-person private, 2-person private, 2-by-2, 3-person private, 3-person with unattached bath and 4-person options here — but Housing cautions that Goodnow and Marlatt have "an extremely limited number of suite-style rooms," with only a few floors carrying one wing of suites and some suite types amounting to just two rooms in the building. Furnishings are the campus standard: a dresser, desk and an XL twin bed frame that mounts from the ground to 70 inches in 3-inch adjustments, with lofting and bunking hardware included and safety bars required when lofted.

Day to day

Marlatt residents eat at Kramer Dining Center and have access to a computer lab, study rooms, a piano and TV room(s), game tables, an exercise/weight room with equipment checkout, a community kitchen and laundry facilities. Front desk services handle building access and equipment checkout, with campus and 911 telephone service available. Quik Cats sits in Kramer Center and Cornerstone Café is in the Wefald Hall lobby — both popular study-break stops for Kramer Community residents.

Move-in day

Marlatt opens on K-State's standard fall move-in schedule: Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, with a Resident Portal check-in appointment reserved in advance. Early arrival is available Sunday, Aug. 16 or Tuesday, Aug. 18 for $55/day. Because Marlatt sits on the west side of campus in the Kramer Community at 1855 Claflin Rd, families driving in should plan their move-in route and parking separately from the Derby-side halls.
