  • Housing states Goodnow and Marlatt have an extremely limited number of suite-style rooms — only a few floors have one wing of suites, and some suite types exist as just two rooms in the building.
  • Air conditioning is not itemized on Goodnow's page; K-State policy references an in-room heating/AC unit and bans personal AC units, so confirm cooling with Housing and Dining Services (785-532-6453) and pack a fan.

Living in Goodnow Hall: what to know before you pack

The room

Goodnow's standard room is a traditional double with a community bathroom. The 2026-27 rate sheet also lists several suite configurations here — 2-person suites with a private bath, 3-person suites with either a private or an unattached bath, and 4-person suites whose bathroom is shared among the four residents — but Housing warns that Goodnow and Marlatt have "an extremely limited number of suite-style rooms," so treat a suite as a lucky draw rather than a plan. All residents get the same campus-standard dresser, desk and XL twin bed frame that mounts from the ground to 70 inches in 3-inch adjustments and can be lofted or bunked, with safety bars required when lofted. Seven floors and 600+ residents make Goodnow one of the bigger halls in the Kramer Community.

Day to day

Goodnow's amenities include a computer lab, study rooms, a music room, a drawing room with drafting desks, TV room(s), game tables, an exercise/weight room with equipment checkout, a community kitchen and laundry facilities, plus front desk services with campus and 911 telephone access. The Quik Cats convenience store in Kramer Dining Center and Cornerstone Coffee & Bakery in the Wefald Hall lobby are both close by for quick food runs between classes.

Move-in day

Goodnow opens with the rest of campus on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, and residents reserve a check-in window through the Resident Portal ahead of arrival. Early move-in on Sunday, Aug. 16 or Tuesday, Aug. 18 costs $55 per day. Goodnow sits on the west side of campus at 1825 Claflin Rd, so families should plan a Kramer Community-side drop-off route rather than the Derby-side entrances.
