Living in Larch Hall: what to know before you pack
The room
Larch's eight houses all list double occupancy, each room furnished with a lofted bed, a desk with attached bookshelf and desk chair, and a wardrobe with drawers and hanging space rather than a built-in closet, plus waste basket, recycle bin, mirror, towel bar and blinds. Every room in the building is air-conditioned, which sets Larch apart from non-AC halls like Helser and from the split tiers in Friley. Rooms run roughly 14 ft 6 in by 11 ft 6 in on average, and residents can de-loft their bed frame on their own as long as it's back in lofted position by checkout.
Day to day
Larch is an eight-floor, 544-resident high-rise on East Campus, one of three air-conditioned towers there alongside Maple and Willow -- the three share a three-level commons. Houses share communal restrooms and lounge space, and the building has rec and lounge areas of its own. Larch hosts three learning communities: Agricultural Education and Studies (AGEDS), Science of the Environment and Sustainable Systems, and Connect Four. Residents have easy access to Seasons Dining in the commons and Conversations across the street, and a meal plan is required; the hall stays open during winter break.
Move-in day
Larch follows the campus-wide new-student window: Tuesday, August 18 (even-numbered rooms) and Wednesday, August 19 (odd-numbered rooms), 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. check-in. As an 8-story building with 544 residents, staggering your arrival earlier or later in the check-in window is worth considering. Larch sits on East Campus near the Lied Recreation Center, Jack Trice Stadium, Hilton Coliseum and CyRide stops, with the commons and Seasons Dining just steps away once you're unpacked.
