Binghamton University Freshman Dorms 2026
Binghamton University requires all first-year students to live in university housing for their first academic year, with exemptions only for students living within 45 miles, students 21 and older, and married students. First-years are spread across five residential communities — College-in-the-Woods, Dickinson, Hinman, Mountainview and Newing — while the Apartments Community is reserved for transfers and upperclassmen. Every room comes with a bed and mattress, desk and chair, wardrobe and dresser already in place, and Residential Life's packing list calls for extra-long twin sheets. Air conditioning is itemized rather than universal: Cleveland (Hinman), Mohawk (CIW), Dickinson except Old Digman and Old Rafuse, and all of Mountainview and Newing. - What size bed and sheets do I need for my Binghamton dorm room?
- Every room comes with a bed and mattress, and Residential Life's move-in checklist tells you to pack sheets in the extra-long twin size, plus a pillow, pillowcase, blanket and comforter. Binghamton does not publish the mattress in inches — if you need exact dimensions, confirm with Residential Life.
- Can I bring or rent a fridge and microwave?
- You can bring your own refrigerator if it is 5.5 cubic feet or smaller. The university also contracts a third party, MicroFridge, to lease refrigerator and refrigerator/microwave units by the semester or year, delivered to your room before you arrive.
