University at Albany Freshman Dorms 2026
All UAlbany freshmen and sophomores are required to live on campus, and most first-years are assigned to State, Indigenous, or Colonial Quad. Most rooms are suites with a bathroom shared only among suitemates, though Onondaga Hall and the 2nd and 3rd floors of Clinton, Delancey, and Morris use communal floor bathrooms instead. Every student gets a university-provided extra-long twin (Twin XL) mattress, bed frame, desk, chair, and dresser, but most rooms have no air conditioning, so packing a fan matters as much as bedding. General first-year move-in runs August 18-19, 2026, with Honors College, EOP, Living-Learning Community, freshman athlete, and new international students moving in a day earlier on August 17.

⚠ Beds may only be lofted or bunked by Facilities staff through a repair request to the Quad Information Center -- students may not loft or bunk a bed themselves, and cinder blocks or bricks for raising furniture are banned.
⚠ Air conditioners are prohibited in residence hall rooms even though most rooms have no AC, so pack a fan and plan for a hot August move-in.
