Living in South Campus Halls: what to know before you pack
The room
South Campus rooms are arranged in suites — two double rooms joined by a shared bathroom, so four students typically split one bath — with 3-person suite configurations also published. Every room comes with a desk, chair, dresser, closet or wardrobe, nightstand, and an extra-long twin bed with an 80" x 35.5" mattress, the same standard furniture used across UB housing. Campus Living lists a single in a 3-person suite at 126 sq ft (8'5" x 14'10") and a double in a 4-person suite at 188 sq ft (11'6" x 16'6"), though actual layouts vary between Goodyear and Clement halls. Beds can only be raised using the provided bed-post notches, installed by Campus Living staff, and never above 34" from the floor — students may not add risers, cinder blocks, or self-loft their frames.

South Campus Halls covers two buildings — Goodyear (completed June 1960) and Clement (completed June 1964) — on UB's original campus, a local landmark since 1920 and home to about 1,000 students. Clement is offered to incoming first-year students on UB's new-student selection list, though Campus Living's Clement community page notes it houses first-year, transfer, and upperclass students; Goodyear is listed as open to all students. Because South Campus sits apart from North Campus, families driving in should plan for the extra distance and confirm which entrance and loading zone their building assigns for appointment-day drop-off. The campuses are linked by UB's Stampede bus — about 10 minutes — so it's worth scoping out the stop near move-in if you'll be shuttling belongings or heading to North Campus events that week; the on-campus Metro Rail station runs downtown, not to North Campus.
