Broussard Hall Dorm Checklist 2026

Louisiana State University

Two- or three-student room with in-room sink, shared hall-style bathrooms; 2 floors, 160 capacity, co-ed by floor

Broussard is a west-campus hall near The 5 Dining Hall. Rooms are two- or three-student with Twin XL bunkable beds, carpet, and in-room sinks; bathrooms are shared hall-style. LSU itemizes A/C for its newest halls but not for Broussard — cooling is provided (LSU's handbook describes a campus heated-and-chilled-water system, with university-installed window units in some rooms), but the specific system here is not published.

  • LSU's Broussard Hall page does not itemize the A/C system the way it does for Azalea and Cedar — cooling is provided campus-wide, but confirm whether the room has central chilled-water A/C or a university-installed window unit before move-in. Personal A/C units are prohibited either way.

Living in Broussard Hall: what to know before you pack

The room

Broussard offers two- and three-student rooms, each with a Twin XL bunkable bed, desk, chair, built-in closets and drawers, and blinds per resident. LSU calls out "Large Rooms with Carpet and Sinks" as Broussard's favorite features — the rooms are carpeted and have an in-room sink even though the bathrooms are shared hall-style down the corridor, and LSU describes them as some of the most spacious on campus, which helps when fitting three beds and three desks into a triple. The beds bunk rather than loft, so under-bed storage depends on whether you bunk with a roommate; LSU publishes no clearance figure, and bed risers are prohibited. LSU does not itemize an A/C spec for Broussard the way it does for the newest suite-style halls, so confirm the specific cooling setup with Residential Life — but cooling is provided, and personal A/C units are not allowed.

Day to day

LSU places Broussard on the west side of campus near The 5 Dining Hall and the LSU Library, a genuinely central spot with an easy walk to the Quad. Bathrooms are shared hall-style facilities rather than suite bathrooms — the classic communal-dorm setup. The building has a community kitchen, a computer lab with free ink for printing, on-site classrooms, a large courtyard with a fountain, and a game and TV lounge, and it is home to the Visual & Performing Arts Residential College, a living-learning program for first-year students majoring in the College of Art & Design or the College of Music & Dramatic Arts. Laundry is pay-per-cycle and on site, and there are live-in and on-call staff. With only two floors and a capacity of 160, co-ed by floor, it's a smaller, tighter-knit community than LSU's larger halls.

Move-in day

Broussard first-years move in during LSU's general Fall 2026 window: early arrival Friday, August 14 (adds $200 to the fee bill; slots at 2, 3:30, 5 and 6:30 p.m.), then standard move-in Saturday, August 15 with slots from 8 a.m. through 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, August 16 with slots from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Appointments are picked in the housing portal July 1-24, 2026, with halls opening for selection at staggered times on July 1-2; roommates who want to arrive together must select the same slot. Print one hang tag per car (two cars maximum), then arrive at the move-in staging area via Gourrier Avenue no more than five minutes before your time — early arrivals are redirected to the exit lane to wait, and late arrivals are accommodated as possible. At the welcome tents you exchange the arrival tag for a building-specific hang tag, follow the lane signage to Broussard's unloading zone, and move the car to a parking area clear of the move-in routes once it's empty.
