University of Louisiana Monroe Freshman Dorms 2026
ULM operates under the University of Louisiana System's Parietal Rules: "All unmarried, full-time undergraduate students are required to live in on-campus residence halls as long as space is available" — a system-wide policy covering every class year, not just freshmen. Eligibility requires a 2.0 cumulative GPA (2.3+ gets priority). Eleven exemption categories exist, from 75 completed credit hours to residing with family in one of sixteen named parishes near Monroe. Fall 2026 move-in runs Friday, August 14 (returning students) and Saturday, August 15 (first-time freshmen and new students).

What to bring to University of Louisiana Monroedorms — and what’s already there
Every ULMfreshman hall includes the same base furnishings. Skip anything already in your room, pack what’s missing, and leave the banned items at home.
⚠ Bed bunking is strictly prohibited by the Fire Marshal campus-wide — nothing may be within 18 inches of the ceiling; bed risers under 9 inches are the only sanctioned alternative.
⚠ Fire alarm tampering, removal, or misuse carries disciplinary action and up to a $500 fine.
⚠ Propping an entrance/exit door: $100 first offense, escalating to $500 and possible dismissal from housing on a third offense.
⚠ A meal plan is mandatory for every on-campus resident.
⚠ "Freshman hall" is our own inference, not an ULM-stated designation — no ULM page labels Madison, Ouachita, or Masur as freshman-specific. The label reflects only that these are the traditional, cheapest, semi-private-bath dorm option.
⚠ Ouachita Hall residents may only entertain male guests in the lobby — male guests are barred from residential floors and individual rooms entirely.
