Georgia Southern University Freshman Dorms 2026
Georgia Southern requires new undergraduates with fewer than 30 earned credit hours to live on campus for the full academic year (fall and spring, or just spring for spring-starters). Exemptions apply to students 21 or older, married students, active-duty military with 1+ years of service, custodial parents of a child under 18, students with 30+ accepted credit hours, students living with a parent or guardian within 50 miles, and students in the University College first-year program. First-year students land in one of four halls — Eagle Village, Kennedy Hall, Watson Hall, or Centennial Place — each with its own clubhouse, computer lab, and game room. Housing fees include all utilities (electricity, water, internet, cable, laundry). Central air conditioning is standard building-wide — thermostats are kept on AUTO at 68-72 degrees and personal AC units are banned outright, which only makes sense if central air is already provided. Fall 2026 move-in runs Friday, August 14 (RAC check-in, 8am-4pm) through Sunday, August 16 (assigned hall, 9am-4:15pm), with early groups (band, STEM Base Camp, Panhellenic recruitment) checking in August 10-11; students who haven't checked in by 9am August 20 risk losing their assignment.

- Is Georgia Southern housing air conditioned?
- There's no hall-by-hall spec page, but the official Residential Community Guide instructs residents to keep thermostats on AUTO between 68-72 degrees campus-wide, and separately bans personal air conditioning units as an unapproved appliance — which only makes sense if central air is already provided everywhere, including all four first-year halls.
- Can I loft or bunk my bed?
- Not yourself. University Housing prohibits student-installed lofts, bunks, or risers. Kennedy and Watson Halls ship with a pre-set medium loft and bed rail already installed, and beds in Centennial Place, Eagle Village, Kennedy Hall, and Watson Hall can have their height adjusted — but only by submitting a Work Order and waiting 2-3 business days for maintenance.
- Is Centennial Place only for first-year students?
- It's one of two halls (with Southern Courtyard) officially designated for required first-year housing, and it's the largest first-year hall by capacity. Its own hall page doesn't restate a strict class-year restriction, so some upperclassmen or Honors LLC overlap is possible.
