Living in Race Street Residences: what to know before you pack
The room
Race Street Residences offers 2-bedroom suites for up to 4 students, with two people per 10' x 15' bedroom. Each resident gets an extra-long twin bed listed at 80in x 36in x 36in whose height can be raised or lowered, a wardrobe (32in x 24in x 72in), and a desk (39in x 24in x 54in) with chair. As across Drexel, that 36-inch number is the bed's maximum height, not the space underneath, and lofts, bed risers, and cinder blocks are all prohibited -- so shop shallow under-bed bins. The shared common space includes a couch, and the suite kitchen has a full-sized refrigerator, sink, and cabinet storage, which makes a personal mini-fridge largely unnecessary. Suites are tile with carpeted corridors, and windows measure 95in x 34in in both the living room and bedrooms. Suites are assigned by same gender with mixed-gender floors, and gender-inclusive housing is available upon request as available.
Day to day
Bathrooms are located inside the suite: a separate shower room with the sink outside, plus a bathroom with sink, toilet, and shower -- a notably private setup for a first-year building. Climate control is self-regulated central A/C and heat. The building has 11 floors with three elevators in the hallway, a centrally located laundry room on floor 1, and indoor bike storage on the basement level accessed through an outside door. Every floor has a full kitchen with two stoves, a microwave, oven, sink, tables, and chairs. Floors 2-11 each have a social lounge with a TV and a small study lounge, floor 1 has a multipurpose room with a TV, and floor 2 has a large study room with both group and private study furniture. The building sits on the Race Street Walk, the center of Drexel's residential community.
Move-in day
First-year students in Race Street Residences move in during Drexel's Move-In Weekend, September 12-13, 2026 -- one shared window across all first-year halls rather than a per-hall day. Drexel's 'Cruise Ship Move-In' has the University and Student Services team unload your vehicle and transport items to the suite while you and your family park and continue through check-in. Your specific move-in date and time appear in the Housing and Dining portal via DrexelOne starting in August. Welcome Week activities run September 14-20, with classes beginning the following Tuesday.
