  • Bed SizeTwin XL · 80"×36" mattress
  • Under-BedFixed height, max 30" clearance
  • ACNo
  • On-CampusRequired — WSU's First Year Live-In Requirement (WAC 504-24-030) requires single undergraduate first-year students under 20 to live in the residence halls for one academic year. • Beds cannot be lofted or bunked in Rogers and space underneath tops out at 30 inches. Skip loft and bunk kits entirely — but bed risers ARE explicitly permitted, so risers plus bins sized under 30 inches is the right plan.
  • Housing states plainly that you may not bring your own furniture — rooms use the built-in furnishings only.
  • No air conditioning. WSU's hall-amenity filter tags Global Scholars, Northside, Olympia, and Stephenson Complex as air conditioned; Rogers is not among them, and personal air conditioners are prohibited, so pack a fan.

Living in Rogers Hall: what to know before you pack

The room

Rogers Hall rooms use twin XL mattresses (80"L x 36"W) on 85"L x 38"W frames, with WSU advising deep-pocket sheets. Beds cannot be lofted or bunked, and WSU publishes a maximum of 30 inches underneath — though bed risers can be used to gain storage space within that. Doubles run 10' wide by 16'8" long, carpeted, with an 8'-wide window of which a 2'6" x 4' section opens. Each room comes with two closets (44.6"W x 23"D x 80"H, plus another foot of storage above), a 42"W x 24"D desk with keyboard drawer, two file pedestals (16"W x 22¼"D x 24 1/8"H) that fit under the desk and a chair, two sets of three stacking drawers (26 1/8"W x 24"D x 10"H each), two sets of shelves 48" wide and 28" high, track lighting, a full length mirror, and a microfridge (45"T x 18"W x about 20"D). WSU is explicit that outside furniture isn't allowed, so these built-ins are what you have to work with.

Day to day

WSU's first-year housing page says Rogers "houses many first-year students," though the official residence-halls listing labels it co-ed first-year *and returning* students rather than first-year only. It's a South Campus community of 500 students, about 10 minutes' walk to the CUB, with gender-specific community bathrooms on each floor and a full kitchen on every floor with oven, microwave, and sink. There's a study lounge on each floor, and the active lounge holds a ping pong table, pool table, piano, and fireplace. Every floor has a washer and dryer plus a first-floor laundry room. Rooms come wired with four double outlets and two computer hookups. Personal microwaves aren't permitted in-room — the built-in microfridge covers refrigeration, and WSU's Housing and Dining Policies confirm microfridges are provided in McCroskey, Orton, and Rogers rooms. Storage is thin: one small storage room on the 12th floor, plus an uncovered outdoor bike rack.

Move-in day

Fall 2026 move-in for Rogers follows WSU's campus-wide schedule: Saturday–Sunday, August 15–16, with an arrival window booked through the housing portal after assignment and check-in at Beasley Coliseum, not the hall itself. Packages can be mailed ahead starting Tuesday, August 11 — note that Rogers mail is picked up in Rogers but packages go to the Gannon/Goldsworthy Area Desk. Because Rogers beds cannot be lofted or bunked and WSU prohibits bringing your own furniture, leave loft and bunk kits at home. Bed risers are permitted, so risers plus under-bed bins that fit within the published 30-inch maximum are the right approach, along with the deep-pocket twin XL sheets the 85" x 38" frame requires.

Rogers Hall FAQ

Can I loft my bed in Rogers?
No — WSU states plainly that Rogers beds cannot be lofted or bunked, with a maximum of 30 inches underneath. Bed risers are allowed, though, so plan on risers plus under-bed bins that fit inside that 30-inch ceiling.
Can I bring my own desk or dresser?
No — the Rogers page states "You may not bring your own furniture," so you're working with the built-ins: two closets, the 42"W x 24"D desk with file pedestals, two sets of three stacking drawers, and two sets of shelves.
Is there a fridge in the room?
Yes — every Rogers room includes a microfridge measuring 45"T x 18"W by about 20"D, confirmed in WSU's Housing and Dining Policies as provided in McCroskey, Orton, and Rogers. A separate personal microwave is not permitted.
Is there air conditioning?
No. WSU's residence-halls amenity filter matches only Global Scholars, Northside, Olympia, and Stephenson Complex for air conditioning, and Rogers is not among them. Personal air conditioners are on the prohibited list, so bring a fan instead.
