University of Oregon Freshman Dorms 2026
Every incoming first-year at Oregon is required to live on campus, with room types ranging from community-bath doubles to private-bath suites spread across nine residence halls. Bed size is not uniform: most halls use Twin XL, Carson and Earl use a shorter Regular Twin, and Yasui Hall uses a full-size Double, so check your assignment before buying sheets. Fall 2026 move-in runs Thursday, September 24 and Friday, September 25, ahead of quarter-system classes starting Monday, September 28.

What to bring to University of Oregondorms — and what’s already there
Every Oregonfreshman hall includes the same base furnishings. Skip anything already in your room, pack what’s missing, and leave the banned items at home.
⚠ Bed size is not universal at UO. Carson Hall and Earl Hall use a Regular Twin mattress (36 x 75 in); Yasui Hall uses a full-size Double (54 x 75 in); Global Scholars, Justice Bean, Kalapuya Ilihi, Living Learning Center, New Residence Hall and Unthank use Twin XL (36 x 80 in). Confirm the assigned hall on housing.uoregon.edu/room-dimensions before buying sheets.
⚠ Microwave ovens, toasters and toaster ovens, hot plates and electronic cooking grills are banned in every room with no MicroFridge-style exception; plan on a hall community kitchen or a dining venue instead.
⚠ Move-in requires a printed Unpack the Quack unloading permit -- UO states campus roads are closed to everyone without one, the driver must stay with the vehicle, and after unloading drivers park at Autzen Stadium with shuttles running back until 5:30 p.m.
⚠ Candles are banned with or without a wick, along with incense, fireworks, gasoline, kerosene, butane and other flammable materials -- there is no decorative or unlit exception.
⚠ First-years who qualify for a live-on exemption (age 21+ by the first day of term, living with a parent or legal guardian, veteran or active duty, and similar) must file it by July 31 or on-campus housing is mandatory.
⚠ UO does not publish an air-conditioning status for any residence hall -- no hall page lists AC as an amenity, and a small fan (not an AC unit, which is prohibited) is on the official what-to-bring list. Confirm with Residence Life if this matters for your assigned hall.
⚠ Move-in note: UO publishes these as "the primary residence hall move-in days for fall 2026" for all residence hall students; it does not publish a separate first-year-only move-in date. Arrival after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25 is treated as a late arrival and requires a Change in Arrival form (housing.uoregon.edu/checkin).

- Are UO residence halls air conditioned?
- University Housing does not publish an air-conditioning status for any of its residence halls -- no hall page lists AC as an amenity. Personal air conditioning units are on the prohibited-items list and a small fan is on the what-to-bring list, which points toward halls without central cooling, but UO never states this outright.
