UW-Milwaukee Freshman Dorms 2026
UWM requires most freshmen 20-or-younger to live in University Housing — but only "when such accommodations are available," and for Fall 2026 housing filled by the May 1 contract deadline, so new students without a submitted contract were automatically exempted. The three first-year buildings are Sandburg Hall's North/South/West towers (1970, no in-room AC — chilled air reaches common lounges only), Cambridge Commons (2010, in-suite AC), and RiverView Hall (2008, in-suite AC, open to first-years again despite an older 2017 plan to go upper-level-only). Even in the air-conditioned halls, campus cooling only runs seasonally and stops working below 60°F outside.
