Living in Schramm Hall: what to know before you pack
The room
Schramm Hall uses UNL's shared Abel/Sandoz/Harper/Schramm/Smith double and super-double floor plans: extra-long twin beds on loftable frames, desks and chairs, dresser/counter space, closets, and a refrigerator/freezer combo (4.3-4.8 cu ft) already installed. A mirror, roll shades or blinds, and a wastebasket and recycle bin are also provided and must stay in the room. Bathrooms are community-style, shared down the hall rather than private. UNL states its measurements are approximate and rounded down and that slight variations between rooms are expected, so hold off on precisely sized storage, rugs, or shelving until you've seen the actual space. Every room has wired and wireless internet and its own in-room temperature control.
Day to day
Schramm is affectionately called the 'Schrammily' on campus -- UNL's own page leads with the hall culture rather than the amenities, which tells you what the building is known for. About 450 residents live across 10 floors, coed by floor. It sits in the Harper/Schramm/Smith/Village complex and shares the underground tunnel route to Harper Dining with Harper and Smith, so winter meals don't require a coat. UNL's amenities chart flags Schramm as a freshman hall that also hosts learning communities, so a Schramm assignment may come with an LC cohort on your floor. Laundry is on site and included in the contract, and every resident is automatically a Residence Hall Association member.
Move-in day
Schramm Hall's curbside move-in day is Monday, August 17, 2026, alongside Harper, Smith, and Courtyards -- one day earlier than the Abel/Sandoz group. Every vehicle in your party reports to Memorial Stadium first for check-in, then one vehicle is routed to Schramm for unloading while the others go to long-term parking. Your exact appointment time is emailed to your Huskers account on July 22, 2026, and you should arrive no sooner than 30 minutes before it. Elevator use is restricted during the 8 a.m.-5 p.m. curbside window, so families are directed to the stairs. If you can't make the slot, reschedule in the Housing Portal and use self-serve move-in instead: after 6 p.m. on August 16-19, or 10 a.m.-8 p.m. from August 20 onward.
