Living in Finley Hall: what to know before you pack
The room
Finley is about as simple as OSU housing gets on room type: 99% of its rooms are standard doubles, with just 1% set aside as singles. Beds are movable and stackable, adjusting to roughly 27.5, 18.75, or 8.5 inches of underbed clearance, and the hall page notes beds may be lofted or bunked upon request. Going higher than those built-in settings requires a UHDS rental loft kit, which reaches 58.5 or 69 inches for a $280 nonrefundable fee — Finley is explicitly named in UHDS's loft kit type list, and students may not build their own. Wardrobes run about 84 inches tall by 36 by 24, though exact dimensions vary slightly by room, and desks offer a 48-by-24-inch work surface with three drawers. Every room ships with the standard extra-long twin (36" x 80") mattress. Room types barely vary, but the building is not community-free: Finley's second floor hosts the Adventure Living-Learning Community, run in partnership with the Adventure Leadership Institute and open to students from any major, and the seventh floor is an ROTC special-interest floor.
Day to day
Finley's recently remodeled ground-floor kitchen has a full-size fridge, freezer, oven, stovetop, microwave, and sink, open to residents 24/7, and each floor adds its own lounge microwave. Several large, recently remodeled lounges on the ground floor provide large-screen TVs, study space, and games, with smaller lounges repeated on every floor above. Bathrooms are community-style, with both multi-stall and single-user options on each of Finley's seven floors. Finley anchors OSU's south-side neighborhood with Bloss, Halsell, and the ILLC, close to Reser Stadium, Gill Coliseum, and Goss Stadium — a natural fit for residents who want to be near game-day energy — as well as the Beth Ray Center for Academic Support.
Move-in day
Finley is grouped into the final day of Oregon State's fall 2026 move-in, Friday, September 18, alongside Weatherford, Poling, Wilson, and the ILLC. Arrival time slots within that day open for selection through the housing portal in late August, and families should use the printed traffic flow map for Friday rather than GPS, since campus traffic is specifically rerouted that day. After checking in for a room key, use Finley's designated unloading zone to unload quickly — like dropping someone off at the airport — then move vehicles to long-term parking, such as the nearby OSU Parking Garage or the structure at 26th & Washington. Late arrivals check in after 5 p.m. at the Arnold Service Center, or with the on-duty RA after 8 p.m.
