Living in Broward Hall: what to know before you pack

The room

Broward's doubles and singles keep the 1917 footprint: each resident gets a bed with a 36 x 80 inch mattress that adjusts to leave 30 inches of underbed storage (no lofting, and no concrete blocks either), plus a closet, dresser, and desk with chair. FSU provides one closet per resident, though it notes that in some facilities roommates share a closet -- worth confirming before you buy hanging organizers. Two rooms typically share a connecting bathroom, and every room includes a sink, mirror, recycle bin, and one 4.0 cubic-foot mini-fridge. Each room is wired with a telephone line, but service is something students arrange themselves through CenturyLink. WiFi is standard. Residents supply their own linens, since sheets, pillows, blankets, and towels aren't provided. Walls stay bare: FSU removes anything affixed, attached, or bolted to a wall and repairs the surface at the resident's cost.

Day to day

Broward spans four floors, each with its own lounge, plus three shared kitchens on floors 2-4 for cooking beyond the in-room mini-fridge -- FSU does not permit cooking in suite-style rooms themselves. Visitation is self-regulated rather than fixed-hour. Laundry machines are in the building, and four dedicated study areas, one per quarter of the hall, offer quiet space away from the room. Broward sits at 668 University Way in FSU's historic residential quad. Meal plans are optional for Broward residents. Move-in day

Broward residents move in during FSU's general Fall 2026 window: appointments are available August 15 and 16, then daily August 20 through August 23. Every student must sign up for a specific move-in day and time through a link emailed to their fsu.edu address -- walk-up move-in isn't available. Each slot runs one hour, in which you arrive, pick up your key, unload, and move the vehicle to parking. Because Broward is a small, low-rise hall, unloading is typically a short carry from the closest curbside drop-off rather than an elevator wait.
