Living in Binnewies Hall: what to know before you pack

The room

Binnewies is SDSU's only all-first-year traditional hall, built in 1969, with 480 students in double and single rooms furnished with the campus-standard loftable bed frame, XL twin mattress, desk, chair, and dresser. Air conditioning currently comes from in-window units rather than a central system.

Day to day

Binnewies connects to Young Hall through Larson Commons for shared dining and a C-store, and its basement recreation center — ping pong, pool, foosball, air hockey — is a well-known campus hangout. A multi-year renovation (Jan 2026-Aug 2028) is planned to modernize the building, including a swap to central air.

Move-in day

Move-in is Friday, August 21, 2026, 8am-2pm, with an arrival slot booked through the MyState portal. Classes start Monday, August 24.
