- Wireless routers are banned in ASU residence halls — they interfere with the campus network. Every room has Wi-Fi plus an Ethernet port; leave the router at home.

Living in Hassayampa Academic Village: what to know before you pack
The room
Hassayampa offers the widest range of room types in ASU's freshman system — from three-person shared rooms with shared baths up to private rooms with private bathrooms — all with suite-style bathroom arrangements and the standard furniture set: Twin XL beds (36"×80"), desks, chairs, dressers, and closets. Beds loft in most areas, but know your building: Building B rooms have fixed lofted beds with the desk built directly beneath the mattress, so your storage plan starts from a lofted layout whether you like it or not. Unlike Tooker and Manzanita, Hassayampa rooms don't include a MicroFridge — rent one through ASU's vendor or bring a UL-listed mini-fridge, and coordinate with roommates first. Sheets note: ASU mattresses are 36 inches wide, slightly narrower than standard Twin XL.
Day to day
Hassayampa Academic Village is built as a village in the literal sense — connected buildings around shared amenities, with its own dining hall and P.O.D. convenience market, a tutoring center, and academic advising inside the community. It's home to the Business Community Advantage cohort, where first-years take their first business class (CIS 105) together with neighbors — the residential-college idea at full strength: your floor is your section. A meal plan is required, the front desk runs 24 hours, and the tutoring and advising offices being downstairs rather than across campus genuinely lowers the barrier to using them during your first semester.
Move-in day
Tempe move-in is August 15–16, 2026, with your assigned window on My ASU and instructions emailed from early July. It will be hot — mid-August Tempe runs past 110°F — so book the earliest window available, unload fast, and save the careful unpacking for air conditioning. If you're in a loftable-bed area, decide your bed height before the floor disappears under boxes; if you're in Building B, the bed is already lofted with the desk beneath, so bring under-shelf lights or a clip-on lamp and a bedside caddy rather than a nightstand-based setup. No MicroFridge here — sort out your fridge rental or purchase with roommates before you arrive. Laundry is free.

Hassayampa Academic Village FAQ
- Does Hassayampa include a fridge or microwave?
- No — unlike Tooker House and Manzanita, Hassayampa rooms don't come with a MicroFridge. Most residents rent one (ASU's vendor rents the combined microwave-fridge units) or bring their own UL-listed mini-fridge. Coordinate with your roommates first — in a shared or three-person room, one fridge covers everyone and floor space is precious. Remember the appliance rules for anything you bring: UL-listed only, no hot plates or open heating elements, and surge-protected power strips rather than plain extension cords.
- What's the deal with Building B's lofted beds?
- Building B rooms have fixed lofted beds — the mattress sits up high with the desk built in directly beneath, and unlike the adjustable frames elsewhere at ASU, they don't lower. It's an efficient use of a small room, but pack for it: a clip-on reading light or under-shelf light for the desk area, a bedside caddy that hangs from the frame (there's no nightstand next to a lofted bed), and a step stool if you'd rather not climb the frame. Elsewhere in Hassayampa the beds loft optionally, so you can choose your layout.
- What is the Business Community Advantage at Hassayampa?
- Hassayampa houses ASU's business-focused first-year cohort, where students take their first business class — CIS 105, Computer Applications and Information Systems — together with the people they live around. That's the residential-college model doing its job: your classmates are your hallmates, so study groups and test-prep sessions form in the lounge instead of over a group chat with strangers. The village also keeps a tutoring center and academic advising on-site, which makes the support system genuinely easy to use during your first semester.
- What room types does Hassayampa offer?
- A wider range than most freshman halls: shared double rooms, three-person shared rooms, and private rooms — with bathroom arrangements from shared suite baths up to a private room with its own private bathroom. All of it is suite-style rather than communal hall bathrooms. The three-person shared rooms are the budget-friendly option; privates cost more but are rare in freshman housing. Whichever you're assigned, pack shower shoes and a carryable caddy, and coordinate shared items (fridge, mirror, rug) with roommates before move-in.
- Is Hassayampa Academic Village a good hall to live in?
- That depends on what you're optimizing for, but here's what's verified: Hassayampa Academic Village has Twin XL · 36"×80" beds with Adjustable/loftable of under-bed storage, and is fully air conditioned. Arizona State provides Bed frame & Twin XL mattress, desk, chair, dresser, closet, trash & recycling bins in every room. Compare those specifics against your priorities — or see how Hassayampa Academic Village stacks up against Arizona State's other halls above.
Thinking About Living in Hassayampa Academic Village Next Year?
If you're choosing housing for next year rather than packing for move-in, here's what's already verified about Hassayampa Academic Village: it has Twin XL · 36"×80" beds with Adjustable/loftable of under-bed clearance, and the room is air conditioned. On top of that, the room comes with Bed frame & Twin XL mattress, desk, chair, dresser, closet, trash & recycling bins; you'll need to bring Bedding, towels, shower caddy, hangers, desk lamp; mini-fridge/microwave outside Tooker & Manzanita (rentable MicroFridge) yourself; Candles, incense, candle warmers, neon signs, halogen lamps, hot plates, open-flame devices, hoverboards, non-UL-listed appliances, wireless routers, weapons, pets other than fish; extension cords only 16-gauge grounded for temporary use — bring a surge-protected power strip isn't allowed. The full day-to-day breakdown above covers the room, the building, and move-in day in more depth.
